Challenge 66 Leeds

A few weeks ago I met a man in Leeds Corn Exchange by chance, Andy McMenemy the son of a former soldier decided to do something to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund - The Soldiers’ Charity by running 66 ultra marathons.

An ultra marathon is 50km or 31.7 miles. During Challenge66 Andy will run 66 Ultra Marathons in 66 Days, one from each of the 66 official Cities in the United Kingdom with no rest days.

The above picture shows Andy setting off from Briggate in Leeds city centre.

Andy ran from Briggate up to Hyde Park and then ran quite a few circuits of the park joined for some of the distance by various runners. In the above picture Andy can be seen bringing up the rear of his small band of people on this very cool and misty day in amongst the trees of Hyde Park, Leeds.

And completed the first day of this incredible challenge where he started this morning on Briggate in Central Leeds. Challenge66 is for a very serious cause and one that I feel needs all the help it can get. Our young men and women are right now putting themselves in harms way for our country and the least we can do is to ensure that they get help should they need it. "
